Deep Sea Thinking

Deep Sea Flying is a series of paintings that encapsulates the strange yet necessary process of merging your past, present and future selves, especially during moments of isolation. 🐠🦑🦢

Each painting represents a version of myself: pre-covid and post-covid, where each character contrasts each other with facial expressions, subject matter, colour palette and tone. The red/pinky painting depicts the flora and fauna that occupy the deepest and darkest parts of the ocean, a particularly favorable location for deep thought and self-reflection. Within the blue painting, the creatures reside in the sky and Earth, an appropriate angle to view one’s journey from a bird’s eye view.
The two selves stand facing each other, responding to the question of ‘Why is it that we realize
the value of something in the presence of its absence?’
